Awards 2022

  • Congratulations to Teddy Caderby, this year's winner of the Young Investigator award from the Société de Biomécanique ! Senior lecturer at the University of Reunion from 2014, Teddy Caderby develops methods to evaluate and improve motor performance and health of the patient and the athlete within the IRISSE unit.
  • Bravo to Clément Bielinski, currently post-doc at Ecole Polytechnique, who wins the PhD award from the Société de Biomécanique for the year 2022 ! His PhD entitled "Impact of the flow on mass transfer from particles: Biomedical applications" was realized at the University of technology of Compiègne, at the BMBI.
  • Congratulations to Maxime Bourgain, winner of this year's Jean Vivès award which rewards a young researcher working in the field of sports biomechanics ! This award is supported by ANOF and EP&S editions. Currently a teacher-researcher at EPF engineering school and conducting his research at the IBHGC, he is interested in understanding performance and injury risks in athletes through measurements close to ecological conditions.

Partial board renewal. This year 4 classical seats and 1 student seat are to be filled in the board of directors of the Société de Biomécanique. Board members have a considerable influence on the activities and development of the society as it is its decision making body. Any member of the Société de Biomécanique who is up to date with his or her membership can stand for election. Find the electoral procedure (in French) here and do not hesitate to contact our president (president_SB) to discuss the vacant responsabilities and the functionning of the board. The deadline is Septembre 30, 2022.

Pionneers in biomechanics. In "La Biomécanique aux débuts de l'Histoire" (in French, here), Damien Garcia reviews the origins of biomechanics from Antiquity to the Renaissance. You will discover in particular the oldest biomechanical reflexions dating from 1600 BC and the rise of this new scientific discipline "which aims to explain, through physics and chemistry, the greatest possible number of vital phenomena".

SB Congress 2024. Are you interesed in organizing the SB annual conference ? The call for applications is open for 2024 and the procedure to follow is described on our website (SB website). Fell free to contact our general secretary (general_secretary_SB) for any information, the deadline is Octobre 24, 2022.

Apéro-zoom. The Société de Biomécanique will propose its first apéro-zoom in September about uncertainties in numerical models - VVUQ method. The objective of these virtual meetings is to freely discuss topics of interest to SB members. It also offers the opportunity to open some laboratory seminars to all those registered on SB website, such as the Café Scientifique recently propsed by the LBMC. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to organize a next apéro-zoom (apero_zoom_SB) !

Blog. Natalia Mühl Castoldi, winner of a Research Collaboration grant in 2021, suggests a mecanobiological approach by considering the organ, tissue and cell scales to understand the mechanisms involved in the pathological growth of the scoliotic spine. Read her full article here.
