Stage M2 : Design of a Bulge Inflation Test for Aortic Tissue (Mines St Etienne) a été créé par Baptiste Pierrat

This internship aims to design a bulge inflation experiment to study critical pressure leading to aortic dissection, a life-threatening cardiovascular event. It is based at Mines Saint-Etienne (SAINBIOSE) and in collaboration with Université Gustave Eiffel (LBMC), under the supervision of Baptiste Pierrat and Aline Bel-Brunon.

The project, funded by the ANR and starting in 2025, seeks to understand and predict dissection risk by integrating mechanical testing of ex-vivo tissues, imaging, and biomechanical modeling. The intern will design and build an experiment to inflate aortic tissue to rupture, with the help of finite element analysis to reproduce in-vivo conditions.

Interaction with researchers and clinicians is a key aspect, and a funded PhD opportunity follows the internship. Candidates with experience in mechanical testing, device design, or finite element analysis are encouraged to apply.

The start date is March-April 2025, and applications are due by December 31, 2024.
