We are pleased to invite you to the International Shoulder Group (ISG) Congress 2026, taking place in Lyon, France, on Tuesday 2nd and Wednesday 3rd June 2026. This international scientific meeting will bring together researchers, clinicians, and students to share the latest developments in shoulder biomechanics, clinical assessment, and surgical innovation. This congress is organized under the patronage of the International Society of Biomechanics (ISB).
Over the course of two days, the program will feature keynote lectures, podium sessions, and round tables on topics such as motion analysis, clinical biomechanics, ergonomics, sports, rehabilitation, muscle, and tissular biomechanics, a poster and award session, student mentorship lunch, and a collaborative open challenge.
What is the international Shoulder Group?
The International Shoulder Group (ISG) is a collaboration of mostly biomechanically oriented research groups, whose main interest is in the shoulder. The ISG has been a Technical Group of the International Society of Biomechanics since 1999. The ISG aims to enhance shoulder research by creating a platform for discussion and the exchange of information, software and data (https://isbweb.org/isg). Accordingly, abstracts in all areas of shoulder and elbow biomechanics are of interest including basic science, engineering, sport and clinical science.
Two keynote speakers
Professor Ann COOLS - From the lab to the practice: How can we implement biomechanical studies in shoulder rehabilitation programs?
Professor Evie Verrecke - Shouldering Evolution: Insights into the Human Shoulder from Comparative Functional Morphology
A round table co-organized with the SECEC
Advanced Planning in Reverse Total Shoulder Arthroplasty: A Multidisciplinary Path to Personalization and Improved Prediction. Cross-disciplinary perspectives from two orthopedic surgeons and two biomechanists on shoulder arthroplasty.
